In October, the number of Miami homes delayed in the foreclosure process fell by 25% compared to the same month last year.
But the decline followed a 96% year-over-year increase from the month before and so may signal little relief.
According to figures released Thursday by RealtyTrac, Miami-Dade ranked seventh in the state for the number of Miami homes and other properties either in foreclosure, scheduled for auction or repossessed by lenders.
One in every 126 Miami homes were in some state of foreclosure process. There was 4,769 new cases filed by lenders against homeowners and 1,221 properties were taken back.
Foreclosures were also down in October, in Broward County, by 2.93%. With one of every 118 homes in the foreclosure process, the county ranked fifth in the state.
There were 893 properties taken back and 3,678 new foreclosures filed by lenders.
In October in foreclosures, Florida fared third worse in the nation, after Nevada and California.
