Fannie Mae has opened a help center for owners of Miami homes looking to avoid foreclosure. Fannie Mae says this will be the first of several across the country it will open.
The help center for owners of Miami homes has a bilingual staff and is part of an plan with civic and community leaders from Miami Dade, mortgage servicers and Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida.
The help center will meet only with homeowners whose Miami real estate property mortgages are held by Fannie Mae and an appointment is required.
Review of a borrower’s loan, discussing foreclosure alternatives for the Miami real estate property, collecting the required documents for the federal Making Home Affordable program, and making a decision about any pending loan workouts are some of the services that will be included.
Carlos Alvarez, Mayor of Miami Dade said, “We welcome Fannie Mae’s first help center to Miami,” “The nationwide housing slump has hit our area particularly hard, and this partnership has the potential to keep families struggling with foreclosure in their homes.”
We do not know yet how many help centers Fannie Mae plans to open.
