Best Places to live
On Monday May 7th, the second edition of "Cities Ranked & Rated": More than 400,000 Metropolitan Areas Evaluated in the U.S & Canada will be available in book stores. Bert Sperling is the man responsible for the best and worse places to live in the U.S.
In Florida, Gainesville is among the top ten cities to live for retired people.
Sperling's work included several analyses, such as: the most romantic cities and best cities for women; however the crux of his work is researching and ranking metropolitan statistical areas, and the first edition of "Cities Ranked & Rated". The census estimates about 39 million Americans, or 14 percent of the population, change addresses every year, so the main goal of Sperling is to help them make the best decision.
He has developed about 10 categories. The 10 are economy and jobs; cost and living; climate, education, health and health care; crime, transportation, leisure, arts and culture; and quality of life. The list has changed a little bit over three years and it is because there have been changes in the information Sperling uses and in the weight given to certain data. Sperling says that three years ago people were more focused on the economy and jobs whereas now there is more concern about housing affordability.
